Estes Park - Let the Games Begin

Hey ya'll;
we finally made it to Colorado, Friday night Ali and I stayed with some friends of Jeff who live near Bolder. The next morning Jeff and I got up early and drove up to Estes Park to climb on Lumpy Ridge. We Climbed the Twin Owls, Which goes in elevation from 5500ft to around 8800ft.

We climbed four roped pitches and did a lot of sketchy scrambling to get to the top. Jeff led a 5.8 up the wolfs tooth which was by far the hardest 5.8 either of us had ever done... Very sweet though, we finally topped out and spent some time scrambling around on each of the summits and then navigated the decent.

Meanwhile, Ali was hiking close by on a path that leads to Gem Lake. It was a beautiful view of Estes Park and the surrounding mountains. The lake is fed only by rainfall and has some interesting rock formations along the edges.

After some post climbing/hiking refreshments Jeff headed back towards Boulder and Ali and I found our campground. Its probably the best campground in Estes Park because it isn't full of RV's and overly irritating tourists who spend their days gawking at the stupid elk which are everywhere... Anyway, after we established camp we drove into RNMP and hiked around Bear Lake.

In the background is the back side of Longs Peak and Glacier Gorge. We'll probably spend the day tomorrow hiking around in this area.

This is me on the summit of the west owl.
Good night~
